Energy-Saving And Consumption-Reducing Aluminum Microchannel Heat
Exchanger
The channel diameters of traditional heat exchangers are mostly a
few millimeters to tens of millimeters, and the fluid is prone to
form laminar flow (smooth flow, heat is only transferred by
molecular diffusion, low efficiency). The equivalent diameter of
microchannels is only 10 to 1000 micrometers (about 1/5 to 1 times
the diameter of a human hair), the flow rate of the fluid within
the channel is higher (usually 0.5 to 5 m/s), and the thickness of
the "boundary layer" (the thin layer with the greatest temperature
gradient in the fluid) on the channel wall is significantly
compressed (only a few micrometers to tens of micrometers). It is
extremely easy to form turbulence (where the fluid is violently
disturbed and heat is rapidly transferred through the fluid
mixture). Ultimately, the convective heat transfer coefficient of
microchannels can reach 500-5000 W/(m²·K), which is 2-20 times that
of traditional finned tube heat exchangers (100-300 W/(m²·K)).
