Note: The difference between T1 type and T2 type surge protector

The T1 type surge protector refers to the product with the lightning test waveform of 10/350us, and the T2 type surge protector refers to the product with the lightning test waveform of 8/20us.

The main difference between the two types of surge protectors lies in the different test waveforms. The energy of the 10/350us waveform is stronger than the energy of the 8/20us waveform, so in many cases the T1 surge protector is generally 12.5kA, 15kA, 25kA, etc. , T2 surge protector does have 20kA, 40kA, 60KA, 100kA, etc. Although the value of T2 type surge protector looks larger, their test waveforms are different. In fact, the energy of T1 is stronger.

Therefore, the national standard GB50057-2010 requires the installation of a T1 type surge protector in the main incoming line, which is also the first-level surge protector.
